Reflective Insulation Known As Radiant Barrier

Radiant Barrier is a reflective insulation that is used to help control the extreme temperature changes that you have in your attic. Radiant Barrier Foil is used to permanently block 97% of radiant heat from entering your attic. The result is lower energy bills and a more controllable and comfortable temperature throughout your home.

There are no limitations of where Radiant Barrier can be installed. It can be used in new and existing home while also being used in sheds, commercial, and industrial applications. The return on the investment can be paid back in as few as two years.

Radiant Barrier Foil is also approved as an Energy Star Product. This makes it available for the IRS Tax Credit unlike the Radiant Spray which is not. It meets strict energy efficiency guidelines set by the Environmental Protection Agency and U.S. Department of Energy. Energy Star products can save homeowners significant amounts on their energy bills.

The Energy Tax Incentives Act of 2005 Section 25 C allows homeowners to receive tax credits on energy upgrades including insulation products when placed in service between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2010. The Energy Tax Credits include our radiant barrier products (NOT ALL PRODUCTS ON THE MARKET ARE TAX DEDUCTIBLE), insulation and solar powered attic vents. With the passing of the stimulus package, the Energy Tax Credits are 30% of materials and labor up to $1500.

The U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) defines "home insulation" as "any material mainly used to slow down heat flow" (16 CFR Part 460.2). ENERGY STAR considers insulation to be products or materials that meet the FTC's definition of "home insulation" and are used to insulate a whole wall, ceiling, or floor. These products include, but are not limited to: fiberglass, cellulose, mineral wool, whole-wall spray foam, rigid foam board, cotton fiber batts, and foil radiant barrier products.

We install a heavy weight and very strong RADIANT BARRIER FOIL we typically install the product to the roof rafters for full coverage, this leaves an air gap between the radiant barrier and the roof decking covering all areas that the spray will not cover without more cost. Radiant Paint can be impossible in some areas of the attic leaving areas for radiant heat to enter. By pushing the heat to the top of the attic for venting helps the blown-in insulation not absorb as much heat and exhausting moisture completely. We also have full coverage of the roof joists and can apply the product to a bedroom or game room wall that backs to the attic to prevent a room from having extreme temperature fluctuations.

Another method for installing foil is to lay it on the top of insulation and ductwork. By doing this you lose some of the benefits that you need to make your home more comfortable and controllable. It can compress the insulation making it less effective and also cause conductive heat transfer into your ductwork and insulation. Due to the Radiant Foil Barrier being double sided it will also work in the winter months reflecting radiant heat back into your home and allowing the moisture and convection heat to leave through your roof vents.
